On this first day of 2015, we’ve been enjoying the day with our cats and dogs. Today’s predicted ice storm turned out to be nothing more than a much-welcome cold rain, perfect for staying indoors, snuggling with our furry family members, and making plans for the coming year.
The holidays are always a time to think back on those who are no longer with us; for us, this year included memories of our dear Felix. We lost Felix to cancer on February 5, 2014 and his loss is still with us every day, and I expect it always will be.
February 2014 also brought our newest family member: little Lucky. Lucky reminds us of Felix in so many ways, not just his handsome tuxedo looks. This first Christmas season, Lucky loved all the Christmas fun and decorations just as much as Felix always had. This year Lucky turned the tears to smiles in our home, and I don’t think we could have honored Felix’s memory in any better way than by bringing Lucky into our home and our hearts.
This past year, we’ve been so fortunate to expand and to be honored by several accolades in the pet world. Our pet360 article on Zeki the rescued cat who became a rescuer was honored with a Muse Medallion and Certificate of Excellent by the Cat Writers’ Association. (And our latest book, Texas with Dogs, was just named a nominee in the annual awards by the Dog Writers’ Association of America.)
New Year’s Day also brings a chance to look ahead…and we’re doing a lot of planning for expansion and changes in the coming months. Our first big project is a Buying Guide both here and on DogTipper, featuring some of the many (many!) pet products we use in our homes daily. We hope it will help serve as a guide to help you navigate through the many categories of products available in the quickly-expanding pet world.
We’ll also be growing our PetTipper store! Today it features pet-themed cookie cutters and our books, but watch for a growing line of products in the coming weeks.
Finally, we’re at work on several new book titles, and can’t wait to unveil those to you.
In the meantime, we just all want to wish you and your family a very happy new year, and to share our thanks for being a member of our community!
