Downton Abbey Stars Take Part in Cats Protection Fundraiser

Two stars who offer TV viewers a peek into the past through their roles in the acclaimed period drama Downton Abbey are helping to create a brighter future for UK cats in need.

Dame Maggie Smith and Hugh Bonneville are among the famous friends of felines who have literally lent a helping hand to Celebrity Paws 2012, an annual online auction benefiting the United Kingdom’s leading cat welfare charity, Cats Protection.

Each year an array of animal-loving luminaries and illustrators trace an outline of their hand, decorate the drawn digits and autograph their artwork for an Ebay auction.

Past paparazzi magnets who have tapped into their inner Picasso for the paws cause over the years include Twilight star Kellan Lutz, Torchwood/Arrow cast member John Barrowman, iconic actress/animal activist Brigitte Bardot, Dancing with the Stars judge Bruno Tolioni and Glee‘s Heather Morris.

The ‘paw’traits of all the high-profile ‘purr’sonalities participating in the 2012 Celebrity Paws fundraiser will be revealed when the 11-day Ebay auction begins on November 29th.
