Ellen DeGeneres, Freekibble.com Launch 2012 Holiday Kibble Drop

She brightens each week day with laughter on the Emmy-winning talk show, and now Ellen DeGeneres is helping to make the season bright for homeless animals across the country.

For the second year the entertainment icon/co-owner of Halo Purely for Pets has joined with 16-year-old FreeKibble.com founder Mimi Ausland for Holiday Kibble Drop, which launched on December 5th and will continue throughout the holidays.

Making 14 stops along the way, 69 U.S. shelters and rescues (including many along the east coast which were affected by Hurricane Sandy) will receive a total of 500,000 meals of Halo Spot’s Stew.

“It makes me feel great to know that so many homeless dogs and cats will be getting healthy, nutritious meals over the holidays. I really believe feeding them such a high quality food will make their holidays a bit brighter while they’re waiting for their forever homes,” says Mimi Ausland, whose website has donated more than 8 million meals in shelters and rescues since 2008.

Speaking out about the paws cause, Ellen DeGeneres stated: “Pet adoption is something I’m extremely passionate about. I believe that by working together, we can find good homes for the millions of homeless and abandoned pets out there.”

Making 14 stops along the way, 69 U.S. shelters and rescues (including many along the east coast which were affected by Superstorm Sandy) will receive a total of 500,000 meals of Halo Spot’s Stew.
