The Friskies Awards Helps Cat Rescue Organizations

Share with fellow cat lovers!

Budding ‘Cat’erine Denueves and Tyler ‘Purr’ys are vying for your votes in the hope that they will get their paws on a Catuette for Best Internet Cat Video of 2012 at “The Friskies” awards.

Selected from more than 1,400 entries, 12 kitty-themed clips– three in each of four categories (Catchall, Catventure, Catness and Catcom)– are in contention for one of four Category Prizes of $2,500 each and the coveted Grand Prize of $15,000. Fans of the feline mini-films can view, share and vote for a favorite through November 9th at www.TheFriskies.com, with the awards presented live on November 14th in a special ceremony produced in conjunction with The Pet Collective.

The cat-loving community’s votes will be combined with those of celebrity experts Wayne White (the original set decorator for Pee Wee’s Playhouse); actor/comedian Michael Showalter; Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas founder Tim league and Karen Nichols, managing editor of Mousebreath.

“We’ve been excited to see the response,” said Shaun Belongie, Friskies brand manager. “The finalists’ videos are all great representations of the art form of the Internet cat video. Cats see the world very differently than we do and the finalists’ videos give us a great peek into that world. We look forward to seeing which videos the community and judges choose to become the first-ever winners of ‘The Friskies,’ and celebrating them during our live award ceremony.”

While only a few felines will garner a golden Catuette, adorable adoptables throughout the US who are hoping to land a starring role in the heart of a pet parent will be the real winners of The Friskies. Based on the number of entries, views and votes, 25 cat charities organizations will each receive up to 10,000 cans of Friskies cat food by the end of 2012.
