Puppy Bowl IX is just around the kitty-corner, and while the spotlight may be on the Spots who charge on to the playing field, the purring performers who will provide entertainment when the ruff and tumble Rovers take a break will also score a touchdown in the hearts of animal lovers.

This year fans of felines can cheer for a mewing menagerie of more than 20 budding Beyonce’s who will wow the crowd during the Bissell® Kitty Half-Time Show.

Just like the tiny tackling tail-waggers, who were all doggie draft picks chosen from rescues around the country, the kittens were in need of homes when shooting on the Animal Planet special began. While all of the adorable adoptables felines who take part in the half-time show once resided at Animal Care and Control of New York City, Petfinder.com reports that every kitty seen on screen are now stars in the lives of forever families.

Puppy Bowl IX airs February 3rd at 3 p.m. ET on Animal Planet.

Before huddling around the TV set to watch all the action, be sure to watch the following Parade magazine clip, which offers a look at Animal Planet’s game plan for presenting the popular presentation:

It would be great if they could include some adult dogs and cats in the bowl too! :)
