29595_Anthony_and_Emily_HeadCompassion for our four-legged friends is a family affair for the famous Daddy/daughter acting duo of Anthony Head (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Merlin) and Emily Head (The Inbetweeners), who recently used their star wattage to shine a spotlight on adorable adoptable cats who are hoping to land starring roles in the lives of loving pet parents.

Paying a visit to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, which has launched a ‘cat takeover’ campaign to promote the meowing menagerie at the renowned rescue organization’s three adoption centers, the animal-loving luminaries enjoyed the opportunity to play with some new purring pals and learn about the ever increasing number of cats who are in dire need of Battersea’s help.

Anthony stated: “For as long as I can remember, Battersea has always been there doing an amazing job for so many homeless dogs and cats. The cats that have been waiting for a home for such a long time, they deserve the chance to be part of a family. I can’t understand why anyone would go to a breeder when there is such an abundance of animals already here who need our help. We have two rescue dogs and they are incredible, with a rescue pet you always feel you get a little bit more love for giving them a second chance.”

Emily (known to Britcom viewers as Carly in The Inbetweeners movie and Channel 4 series), said: “I have always loved cats and will definitely get a cat from Battersea when I move into my own house. Whether it is a kitten or cat, I think it’s really important to go to a rescue centre like Battersea.”

Along with posters and digital ads which now dot London tube stations, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home is also encouraging potential adopters to find a feline friend on Purrsday. Held on the final Thursday of each month, the cattery in London (which was officially opened by Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall in 2010) will keep its doors open until 8 p.m.

Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, which has been finding forever families for felines for the past 130 years, provides comfort and care for approximately 190 cats on any given day at its three adoption centers in South West London, Old Windsor, Berkshire and Brands Hatch, Kent.
