Disney Channel Star Sierra McCormick Promotes Pics for Pets Campaign

Share with fellow cat lovers!

As a star of the hit Disney Channel series A.N.T. Farm, Sierra McCormick may be accustomed to posing for photographers at red carpet events, but recently the actress who portrays a girl with a photographic memory stood behind the lens, aiming to help adorable adoptables find forever homes by aiming her camera phone.

The teen star recently paid a visit to the Best Friends Pet Adoption Center in Mission Hills, California to take photos of canines and cats to share with her fans for DoSomething.org’s Pics for Pets campaign, which focuses on helping shelter pets find homes via social media accounts such as Twitter and Facebook, as well as on the PicsforPets.org website.

During her stay, the star– who comes home to an adopted dog named Princess Annie after a day on the set of her Disney Channel series– became buddies with some of Best Friends’ residents, including a 9-month-old Pit Bull Terrier named Sabrina and this photogenic feline (see photo above).

“Pics for Pets is such a cool way for young people to get involved in the animal welfare movement,” says Marc Peralta, executive director of Best Friends Animal Society – Los Angeles. “Teens and kids aren’t just the future when it comes to helping animals, they can actively participate now and help us Save Them All.”

Save Them All™ is the call to action for Best Friends, the only national animal welfare organization focused exclusively on ending the euthanization of dogs and cats in America’s shelters. Established in 1984, Best Friends runs the nation’s largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals as well as life-saving programs in partnership with rescue groups and shelters across the country. Since its founding, the organization has been instrumental in helping to reduce the number of animals who lose their lives in shelters from 17 million per year to 4 million.

“We know animal welfare is the No. 1 issue for young people, so we created Pics for Pets to encourage young people to visit their local animal shelter, take a picture of an animal in need, post the photo to DoSomething.org/picsforpets and social media sites, help find that animal a home,” Naomi Hirabayashi, chief marketing officer for DoSomething.org, says. “A good quality photo can make or break an animal’s chance to get adopted, and who better to take a lot of pictures than teens?”

When information regarding an adoptable pet is shared more than 400 from picsforpets.org, DoSomething.org will make a donation of supplies to that companion animal’s shelter.
