Adoptapalooza to Help Pets Find Forever Homes

banner-adoptapalooza2014-300Homeless cats, dogs and rabbits in The City That Never Sleeps have been dreaming of the day when they become members of a forever family, and for many their reverie will become reality on September 7th as the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals and The Petco Foundation present Adoptapalooza in Union Square Park.

Potential pet parents will have the opportunity to meet approximately 300 adorable adoptables from more than 40 shelters and rescue groups at the event, which will also include:

  • Cat and dog microchipping for $25.
  • A Kids’ Korner complete with face-painting and glitter ‘tattoos.’
  • A performance by Guinness Book of World Record holder Norman the Scooter Dog, whose skills have been seen on The Hallmark Channel series Who Let the Dogs Out.
  • Representatives from The New York City Office of Emergency Management/Ready New York, who will be on hand to teach ways to safeguard your pets.
  • A photo booth.
  • Information booths for those with a love for all creatures great and small, with representatives from Farm Sanctuary, NYCLASS, Urban Wildlife Alliance, Urban Utopia Wildlife Rehabilitation and Wild Bird Fund.
  • A happening with heart, Rock & Rawhide will be collecting donations of new pet toys, blankets, clean towels and other pet-related items to distribute to the area’s shelter animals.

Admission: Free (Note: While there is no admission to attend, Adoptapalooza is not a free pet adoption event.)

When: September 7, 2014 from noon – 5 p.m.

Where: Union Square Park, North Plaza at Broadway and East 17th Street in New York City
