Mandy Moore Promotes #MyRescueStory

Share with fellow cat lovers!

MooreActress/singer Mandy Moore, who helped to bring a new twist to a classic fairy tale as the voice of Rapunzel in the popular animated Disney movie Tangled, is asking her feline-loving fans to share their cat adoption tales in order to help shelter cats turn the page to the next chapter in their lives…the start of their very own happily ever after with a forever family.

A proud pet parent to four rescue cats (Addison, Maddie, Theo and Vincent) and two dogs, Moore is currently using her star wattage to shine a spotlight on Purina Cat Chow’s “Building Better Lives” program, which is donating $275,000 to 50 shelters nationwide– one in every state– in renovation and adoption support, product and monetary donations, as well as a possible $50,000 donation to The Petfinder Foundation, for a total contribution of up to $375,000.

“I have four rescue cats and believe in the importance of supporting local animal welfare organizations,” Moore stated. “Everyone who has ever adopted or rescued a cat can share how it has impacted their life. Rescue cats have a lot to offer their potential adopters, and I hope these stories encourage more people to consider adding a cat to their home.”

Through September 2nd, cat lovers are invited to share the story of their cat’s adoption with the brand’s various social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) using the hashtag #myrescuestory. If a minimum of 1,500 stories are told during the allotted timeframe, The Petfinder Foundation will receive up to $50,000 to support 50 Petfinder.com shelters.

Along with the donation to The Petfinder Foundation, Purina Cat Chow is also conducting three shelter renovations and cat adoption events, and contributing both $2,500 in cash and Purina Cat Chow brand cat food per shelter, for a total of $125,000.

Two facility ‘facelifts’ have already taken place at the MaxFund Animal Adoption Center in Denver, Colorado and the City of Rogers Animal Shelter in Rogers, Arkansas, with the third transformation scheduled for August 20th at Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley, Minnesota. Each renovated shelter will sport a perked up appearance thanks to fresh paint, refreshed lobbies to create a welcoming first impression for potential pet adopters, and free-roam cat rooms for the enjoyment of felines during their stay.
