As friends of felines we can find ourselves climbing the walls with worry when we spot a cat stranded in a tree. In the Seattle area, pals of those who purr can call upon a dynamic duo whose dogged devotion to cats has them literally going out on a limb to save our kitty companions.

Animal Planet will soon unleash the new series Treetop Cat Rescue, which will shine a spotlight on the efforts of brothers-in-law/certified arborists/professional tree climbers/cat communicators Shaun Sears and Tom Otto, who run the non-profit organization Canopy Cat Rescue.

Saving a cat in a region where trees can stretch up to 150 feet can be a tall order, with Sears (who has two feral rescue cats and two dogs in his fur family) and Otto (a proud pet parent to a rescued border collie mix and a cat who began life in a litter of feral kittens) tackling buzzing beehives, dead branches and wild weather on their way to rescue a frightened feline.

In the program’s premiere double episode TV viewers can witness Shaun Sears embark on a solo mission to save Spaz, a cat who has been missing for three weeks; see the team investigate an animal sighting which might least to a much-loved lost cat’s reunion with his human father; and watch the nighttime rescue of a cat who seems to have second thoughts about wanting to be saved.

The new Animal Planet series Treetop Cat Rescue premieres May 30th at 9 p.m.ET/8 p.m. Central. For more information regarding Canopy Cat Rescue, which has helped to save the lives of more than 500 stranded cats:
