Disney Princesses Promote Shelter Adoption

Once upon a time many companion animals did not have families to love and they were sent to shelters, but today all dogs and cats live happily ever after in forever homes with loving pet parents.

These may sound like the words in a fairy tale, but thanks to a new Shelter Pet Project campaign in partnership with Disney the dream of finding caring guardians for all of our four-legged friends in need is one step closer to becoming a reality.

In the following PSA, classic Disney Princesses Cinderella, Tiana, Belle and Ariel join with Palace Pets Pumpkin, Lily, Teacup and Treasure to teach the next generation that choosing to adopt a purring pal or barking buddy can be a crowning achievement.

By starring in the ad the animated Disney darlings have followed in the footsteps of some real life famous friends of Fidos and felines who have shown their support for the paws cause, including Scandal star Bellamy Young, Torrey DeVitto from The Vampire Diaries and The Late Show with David Letterman‘s sidekick Paul Shaffer.

A national animal welfare campaign which launched in 2009, since its start The Shelter Pet Project has been striving to reach out to the millions of people who welcome a companion animal into their homes each year in an effort to increase the 29 percent of dogs and 33 percent of cats who are adopted from animal shelters and rescue organizations annually.
