New Orleans Cat Art and Film Festival to Help Cats in Need

Share with fellow cat lovers!

20642788 The Big Easy will show just how easy it is to fall in love with a purring pal during the second annual New Orleans Cat Art and Film Festival. Fans of flicks and felines can enjoy both the art of moving pictures and pictures which move the soul, all to help paws causes.

Presented by Arts for Cats’ Sake, SpayMart and LA SPCA, the June 27th event will include the following activities:

  • A special showing of the Walker Art Center’s award-winning traveling presentation of mini-meowvies which is currently wowing clowders of cat lovers across the country on the Internet Cat Video Festival tour.
  • Attendees can meet the kings of cute kitty video clips, Paul Klausman and TJ Wingard of “An Engineer’s Guide to Cats.” The feline-loving filmmakers will pose for photos with fans and autograph memorabilia.
  • Following in the famous footsteps of Leonardo da Vinci, who once stated that “The smallest feline is a masterpiece,” art aficionados can purr-chase cat-inspired meowsterpieces in various mediums.
  • Capture the cuteness of your kitty companion with a camera for a chance to be named the top dog in a photo contest. Categories include “If I Fits, I Sits,” “Cats in Hats,” “Funniest Feline,” “Power Napper,” “Best Group,” ‘Cat Plus Friend,” “Most Photogenic” and “Most Unique Markings.”
  • Cat-loving kids can have fun in the play area, where they can pose for a photo alongside a seven-foot ‘feline,’ color pictures of kitties and try to win a prize by choosing a rubber duck with a cat’s countenance among the duck toys bobbing in a pond.
  • Ticket holders can lap up beverages (including feline-influenced refreshment), and please their palates with pizza, ice cream and vegan treats.

A party with a higher purpose, proceeds from the event will help fund research to curve cat illnesses, spay/neuter programs and ongoing efforts to pair our purring pals in need with loving, forever pet parents.
