Get Ready for Clear the Shelters Day!

Share with fellow cat lovers!

During the dog days of summer one day will be devoted to both cats and canines in need as close to 600 animal shelters across the U.S. including Puerto Rico take part in Clear the Shelters on August 18, 2018.

Celebrating its fourth year, NBC Universal-owned television stations and the Telemundo Station Group have once again partnered for the low-cost and fee-waived pet adoption event. Each companion animal adopted on the day from participating facilities will add to the overall total of 153,651 cats, kittens, dogs, puppies and other companion animals who have found pet parents to love thanks to the Clear the Shelters adoption drives.

According to the ASPCA, an estimated 6.5 million companion animals — 3.2 million cats and 3.3 million dogs — find themselves in the US shelter system each year. Of these, an estimated 860,000 cats and 670,000 dogs lose their lives. Clear the Shelters will once again strive to turn the tide on these sobering statistics, and fans of felines can see the results by checking out the adoption tracker on the event’s website.
