Jackson Galaxy, who offers food for thought to the fretting families of fractious felines on the Animal Planet series My Cat from Hell, will dish out a heaping helping of wisdom to those who hunger to help our pals who purr at a fundraising luncheon.
On June 8th, the two-time New York Times bestselling author will be the keynote speaker at the first annual Second Chances Luncheon, benefiting Purrfect Pals. As guests dine on gourmet vegetarian fare, everyone’s favorite Cat Daddy and several community members who have adopted from Purrfect Pals will provide sustenance for the spirit as they discuss the non-profit’s ongoing efforts, including news of the rescue’s behavior rehabilitation program. Following the presentation, attendees can ask their pressing cat-themed questions to the Animal Planet star during a Q&A session.
Saving the lives of homeless cats since 1988, today Purrfect Pals finds forever homes for an estimated 2,000 cats and kittens each year, and tackles the problem of pet overpopulation annually with free spay/neuter surgeries for approximately 1,000 cats. The non-profit organization also helps both people and pets through its Monroe Connections Kitten Connections program, which teaches inmates in a special offenders unit the patience, compassion and responsibility needed to be foster pet parents to unsocialized kittens or shy cats who have been saved from facing their fate at an area shelter. Since its start in 2006, more than 700 kittens have received a new lease on life thanks to the prison foster program, with each cat going on to find a forever pet parent to love.
Admission: No charge to attend, but donations will be requested at the event, with a $150 minimum donation suggested.
When: June 8, 2017 ( from noon – 1:15 p.m., followed by a Jackson Galaxy Q&A)
