CatTipper Review: It’s spring cleaning time at our house! This year spring cleaning has been especially challenging due to last year’s historic drought, recent rains (hooray!), and a greater amount of cat vomit than usual. As our regular readers know, our Felix had 10 teeth extracted last month. He has adjusted well and loves his wet food…but old habits die hard. He still insists on eating some of the dry food…and up it comes about half an hour later. The vet has told us that, as his gums harden, he’ll be able to eat it better if he likes but, in the meantime, we’ve had more than the usual amount of messes to clean up around here.
Spring cleaning around a pet household can also mean hairballs and fleas. We work hard to use all-natural methods for flea prevention and that means frequent vacuuming and cleaning of all surfaces.
So we pulled out the Bissell’s Lift-Off® Deep Cleaning System to clean our living room rug. This two-in-one system has an upright deep cleaner for cleaning your whole carpeted room or large rugs plus a portable spot cleaner for those hard-to-reach areas.
That upright cleaner features 12 rows of bristles with two brushes…
…or, with just a step on a release pedal, you can take off the portable unit to clean stairs, upholstery, or places you just can’t take the full unit.
For our review, though, we concentrated on the area rug. First, we vacuumed the rug thoroughly. Next, we added hot tap water and Bissell’s cleaning formula to the unit, an easy process that took only minutes. Next it was time for cleaning. The cleaning process was simple with a pass forward and backward spraying solution then another pass without solution to remove the dirty water and help dry the rug.
The dirt that came out of the rug was…well…just plain gross. This is one batch of water; it took two batches to clean the entire rug…
Besides the dirt, the Bissell also pulled up amazing amounts of pet hair from deep inside the rug. The final result was a rug that was bright and clean.
Now on to the rest of the spring cleaning…we hope the rest of it will be this easy!
