We dispense cat treats…a LOT. We use treats to reinforce good behaviors, whether that’s when Inca stops scratching on the door facing when asked or when Felix takes his pill without a fuss. All of our cats enjoy treats and we feel that, by sharing special treats with them, we also deepen our bond with each of these furry family members.
But we’re surprised to learn that many people do not regularly share treats with their cats. Besides just not thinking about the joy (and the training potential) that treats can bring, one reason may be because of worries that treats are perhaps unhealthy, like handing out candy bars to children.
