Share with fellow cat lovers!

Cat lovers already knew it–but scientific studies have also confirmed that the company of a cat can lower a person’s stress level. Now feline-loving foodies in Santa Barbara, California can conduct their own research into the calming effect of kitties by paying a visit to the city’s first cat cafe, Cat Therapy.

Food and Drink at the Cat Cafe

While customers are sipping their catuccinos, smoothies or Brazilian juices and nomming on an acai bowl prepared by Brasil Arts Cafe, adorable adoptables are enjoying a taste of the good life in the cafe’s special kitty quarters.

Cat Residents

Fostered by the cat cafe, all cats come from Animal Shelter Assistance Program (ASAP), the Ventura County Animal Services, and ResQcats (a rescue organization close to the heart of Cat Therapy owner Catalina Estevez, as she was a volunteer with the non-profit for two years, Downtown Santa Barbara reports).

For an admission fee, fans of felines can meet from 10 – 15 new furry friends during a 75-minute stay.

By opening its door to those who adore felines, Cat Therapy has joined a list of cat cafes in California which includes Cat Town Cafe in Oakland (the first cat cafe to open in the United States), Crumbs & Whiskers Cat Cafe in Los Angeles, The Cat Cafe in San Diego, KitTea Cat Cafe in San Francisco and The Dancing Cat in San Jose.
