A vintage venue which once showcased vaudevillian acts and the silver screen hits of Hollywood’s hottest stars, today The Regent Theater is home to hip L.A.’s hippest musical happenings. However, for one evening in November, the building will, in a sense, return to its days as a movie palace for a showing of clips from kitties who aspire to be the next CATt Damon or CATe Blanchett.
On November 12, fans of film and felines will gather in a clowder for the Los Angeles leg of Cat Videos Live!, a 70-stop tour currently on the prowl from coast to coast which combines comedy with kitty culture. Providing “catty” commentary for the two-hour compilation of mini-meowviews is New York-based comedienne Carla Rhodes, who recently appeared on the ABC remake of The Gong Show.
A presentation for a paws cause, Cat Videos Live! will raise people’s spirits as it raises awareness at each stop for local animal welfare organizations as well as Panthera (the only organization dedicated solely to the protection of the world’s 40 species of big cats) and Friends 4 Life, a no-kill facility which is the city of Houston’s fastest-growing shelter.
For the Los Angeles stop on the tour, Cat Videos Live! has partnered with Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats, the only facility in the state of California which is doggedly devoted solely to feral cat rescue and socialization.
