Jim Nabors Raises Funds for The Hawaiian Humane Society

Over the years he’s tickled our funny bones, and now actor Jim Nabors (The Andy Griffith Show, Gomer Pyle: USMC) has touched our hearts by helping homeless cats and dogs in Hawaii.

A long time supporter of the Hawaiian Humane Society, the pop culture icon recently took on the role of co-chair of the animal welfare organization’s biggest annual fundraiser, Tuxes & Tails: Bow Wow to Hollywoof: A Night at the A-cat-emy.

A total of $670,000 was raised at the swank soiree, which took place at The Royal Hawaiian Hotel and included a surprise (or, as his famous TV alter ego Gomer Pyle would say, “Sur-prise! Sur-prise! Sur-prise!”) performance by the high-profile pal to those with paws, who entertained the evening’s attendees with a stirring rendition of “The Impossible Dream” (The Quest)” to mark the launch of The Hawaiian Humane Society’s $18 million capital campaign for the construction of a second life-saving facility.

Established in 1883, The Hawaiian Humane Society provides comfort and care for more than 25,000 companion animals each year.
