Last week, I had the chance to tour the Helen Woodward Animal Center in Southern California.The center is amazing and filled with so many innovative ideas for fundraising and encouraging adoption, ones they eagerly share through free workshops with other animal welfare groups around the country.
The cat and kitten area was full of sweeties looking for a new home. Here I saw one of their innovative fundraising ideas at work: donation boxes directly on the pet’s cage:
It’s a small, simple effort but one that has been super successful at this no-kill center!
We’ll be bringing you many more details from this cutting-edge animal facility that serves as a model of how animal centers can be happy places for pet lovers to visit, shop, get their pets groomed or taken to the vet, and, yes, also adopt a new furry family member! I was in San Diego for the BlogHer conference, and Eukanuba and Iams took our group of pet writers to this facility before the conference; it’s an amazing place!
