Remembering Inca, 2007-2025

Of all the many cats and dogs we’ve shared our home and hearts with, none have been with us as long as Inca. From the day of her adoption on January 19, 2007 until we said goodbye on December 15, 2025, Inca shared not only our lives but the lives of generations of our pets.

Adopted from what is today Texas Humane Heroes, Inca was semi-feral and not too sure of living with humans when she first arrived at our house, then shared with our Linus and Felix and our dogs Hershey, Alby and Yoda. We had recently returned from a trip to Chile and Argentina and named Inca for a site we visited named Puente del Inca, an association we thought of because of Inca’s gold eyes.

Through the years, Inca went on to welcome so many pets to our family, from a tiny kitten our neighbor had found at the post office we soon named Coco…

…to our dogs like Irie she loved to groom…

Nearly 20 years old, Inca had a full and active life, feeling good until the last days of her life when we learned that she had an intestinal tumor.

Inca loved to curl up with her fellow cats Jetty and Lucky…

…and hang out in her catio…

Her loss is one we will all feel for a long, long time.
