The French author Jules Reynard once stated that “The idea of calm exists in a sitting cat.” To fans of felines in the city of Richland Hills, Texas (just northeast of Fort Worth), the idea of relaxation exists in sitting among the mellow meowing menagerie at The Casual Cat Cafe and Lounge.
Doggedly devoted to our pals who purr, husband and wife proprietors John and Cindy have fostered over 100 homeless cats over the years, and Cindy has taken part in efforts to help our four-legged friends in times of natural disaster.
Pet parents to three rescue cats (who now have a claim to fame as the felines on The Casual Cat Cafe sign!), the couple are utilizing their expurrtise in cat care to provide a comfortable temporary home to 10 to 12 adoptable cats.
For Feline-Loving Foodies
Customers who want to nom before enjoying the calm that a clowder of kitties can bring can purchase a pre-packaged treat (muffins, granola bars, cookies, chips and crackers and candy are available onsite) or have a meal from a food delivery service brought directly to the cafe’s door.
Drinks on the menu include Keurig coffee, 12-ounce sodas and bottled water.
Adorable Adoptables
Patrons who pay an admission fee can enjoy a 60-minute stay in the cafe’s special kitty quarters, where adorable adoptables from Tall Tales Rescue and Transport, Richland Hills Animal Services and Hurst Animal Services lap up the milk of human kindness as they wait for the day when their very own pet parent walks though the door.
If an hour in the presence of a plethora of purring cuties isn’t long enough, you can also purchase an all-day stay!
Feline-Themed Fun
Sign up to hang out with some cool cats at one of the cafe’s many events! Purring partners can help you strike the perfect Downward Dog pose during a Yoga with Cats session, and you can tap into your inner MEOWnet or PiCATsso while Painting with Cats.
Texas Cat Cafes
The Casual Cat Cafe is the latest in an ever-expanding litter of venues in the cat cafes in Texas which combine coffee and kitties to help a paws cause. The facility is following in the paw prints of The Blue Cat Cafe in Austin, The Charming Cat Cafe in Lewisville and El Gato Coffeehouse in Houston.
